Jeshua Bardoo selected for 2022/23 Fellowship at the IACHR

Equal Rights, Access and Opportunities SVG Inc. ("ERAO SVG") is pleased to announce that our Founder, Mr. Jeshua Bardoo, has been selected as the recipient of the 2022/23 Fellowship at the Rapporteurship on the Rights of LGBTI Persons of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (“IACHR”).
The IACHR is a principal and autonomous organ of the Organization of American States (“OAS”) whose mission is to promote and protect human rights in the American hemisphere. Created by the OAS in 1959, the Commission has its headquarters in Washington, D.C. Together with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, installed in 1979, the Commission is one of the institutions within the inter-American system for the protection of human rights.
Mr. Bardoo's duties over the course of 12 months will include but are not limited to:
Collaboration with the team of the Rapporteurship on the Rights of LGBTI Persons of the ES/IACHR in the elaboration of thematic and country reports.
Collaboration with the IACHR Executive Secretariat team in the processing of petitions, cases and requests for precautionary measures related to the rights of LGBTI persons.
Preparation of draft reports on petitions and cases related to the human rights of LGBTI persons.
Search for information to analyze the situation of the rights of LGBTI persons and preparation of the respective reports.
Preparation of summaries and other documents for hearings, working meetings and visits of the ES/IACHR related to the situation of the rights of LGBTI persons.
Collaboration in initiatives aimed at promoting and disseminating the Inter-American human rights system and the Rapporteurship on the Rights of LGBTI Persons.
Constant updating of the IACHR website regarding the work of the Rapporteurship on the Rights of LGBTI Persons.
Monitoring of the situation of the rights of LGBTI persons in the region.
We look forward to the 12 months (December 2022 to November 2023) where Mr. Bardoo will be working on an even greater scale regionally and internationally toward the protection of human rights through the IACHR.
